The ASO-EPT Niger Coalition celebrated the launch of the Global Action Week for Education, 2018 edition, April 26, 2018 at the Academy of Martial Arts of Niamey.

A high level meeting

This launch was placed under the high patronage of ministries in charge of education, and the official launching speech was delivered by the Minister of Higher Education, President of the Local Group of Education Partners (LEG). In his intervention, the Minister emphasized the results of actions carried out during the year.

More than 1,300 people were gathered, deputies, administrative and educational authorities, technical and financial partners (TFPs), civil society actors, schoolchildren, parents and teachers.

Goals to reach

The ASO-EFA Niger Coalition took this opportunity to recall the international context and insist on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) while focusing on SDG4 and the 2030 Action Plan.

In particular, the coalition reaffirmed its determination to monitor the commitments of the State and the TFPs in terms of funding for education taken at the SME’s replenishment fund in Dakar.

At the national level, ASO-EFA Niger has also highlighted the difficulties facing the Nigerian education system, including: the consequences of mismanagement of teaching staff, the non-satisfaction of social demands, student discontent, all things having resulted in repetitive disturbances in the courses.

The ASO-EFA Niger Coalition, through SMAE 2018, calls on the government for an inclusive dialogue to find appropriate solutions to educational issues, and at the same time condemns any violence as a solution to the problems of the school.
