Launching GARJE: A Global Action for Racial Justice in Education

Spread the word

GCE is pleased to share details of an upcoming online event promoted by the Global Action for Racial Justice in Education (GARJE), which will launch a new website and curated collection of inspiring anti-racist education practices from around the world. The webinar will take place on 6 May 2026 at 15:00 SAST (Johannesburg). GCE Global Coordinator, Grant Kasowanjete, will speak at the webinar.

Built on years of international research led through the ActionAid/SETA project, GARJE brings together initiatives and organisations that address racism and racial injustice as integral to achieving fair and just education systems. This online launch is an opportunity to engage with that body of work alongside educators, activists, and organisations from countries including Australia, Bangladesh, Brazil, India, Lebanon, Mexico, New Zealand, Senegal, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and the United States, and to explore the new GARJE platform.

During the event, speakers will share practices of anti-racist education from different regions and discuss how to build a sustained movement for global action for racial justice in education. The session aims to demonstrate the significance of addressing race and racism in education, recognise the global nature of this challenge, and lay the foundations for galvanising an international community of action for racial justice in education.
