The TaxEd Alliance, together with the Education Financing Learning Collaborative and the Elimu Yetu Coalition in Kenya, hosted a regional advocacy event in Nairobi, 24 April 2026, to launch the Nairobi Charter on Transformative Education Financing during the Global Action Week for Education (GAWE) 2026.

Bringing together participants from civil society organisations, national education coalitions, government, development partners, and the media, the event presented shared civil society priorities on tax, debt, fiscal justice, and education budgeting, and open a dialogue with the Government of Kenya, the Global Partnership for Education (GPE), and other partners on strengthening public commitments to equitable and quality education financing across Africa.

The launch builds on a three-day face-to-face meeting of the Education Financing Learning Collaborative, where members from Eastern, Southern, West, and Central Africa consolidated lessons from a year-long programme on the 4Ss framework (Share, Size, Sensitivity and Scrutiny) and action research using the Cost of Quality Education per Student (CAQi) methodology to inform a bold, collective call to action.
