GCE Buzz: April-May 2026

The April-May 2026 edition of GCE Buzz follows our movement as it “holds the flame high” for education financing in the lead-up to Global Action Week for Education (GAWE) 2026.

Against a backdrop of debt crises, austerity and shrinking aid, the newsletter traces how coalitions from Armenia to Burkina Faso, Tanzania, Latin America, Spain and the Arab region are turning the call to “Invest in Education, Transform Lives” into concrete demands on tax justice, debt relief, fair budgets and SDG 4. Through youth-led webinars, community roundtables, regional dialogues, and creative GAWE actions, it shows both the human impact of underfunding and the policy pathways being advanced to secure inclusive, equitable, gender-transformative public education.

This edition also introduces GCE’s first-ever podcast on education financing and our new online course on gender-transformative education, inviting readers to engage with the ideas, tools, and voices shaping a global push to reform how education is funded and governed.
