About

The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 24 January as International Day of Education, in celebration of the role of education for peace and development. The 2020 celebration seeks to position education and the learning it enables as humanity’s greatest renewable resource and reaffirm the role of education as a fundamental right and a public good.

This is a landmark date for GCE and its members and the day is used to amplify advocacy and initiatives to promote access to free, quality, inclusive public education for all.

Objectives

  2. Highlight education related challenges faced by internally displaced persons, refugees and asylum seekers.
  3. Showcase civil society’s work around advocacy and campaigns for the right to free, quality, inclusive public education for all.
