What happened in Action Week 2008? People from Niger love wrestling! The local coalition used the much loved traditional sport to mobilize campaigners and raise awareness in Niger.
Focusing on people with disabilities, the wrestling matches conveyed messages regarding the importance of education for all, no matter their ability. It also highlighted the importance of education for poverty reduction and asked the question how quality education could be improved in the country.
The World's Biggest Lesson took place in all the major regions of Niger, although the main event was held in Niamey. It was attended by politicians, teachers, parents, pupils and civil society activists and organised by teachers’ unions and members. There were over 13,000 people present.
Similar events took place throughout the country with a total of 66,000 people participating.

What happened in Action Week 2007?
The whole country was a buzz of activity during Action Week. Officials went back to formal and non-formal schools, debated education on TV, and a massive chain reaction took place in the Général Seyni Kountché Stadium, involving a thousand pupils.
Students enjoyed the music from popular rap group Kaîdan Gaskya and the amazing singer Hadiza Mangou, as they handed their messages hand to hand along the chain to the Minister of Education and the Ambassador of France.
The messages described the violations of Education Rights and demands to correct these wrongs.
