What happened in Action Week 2008?
Activities took place in five educational institutions, with each institution inviting political, religious, academic leaders, and PTA’s and renowned business people to school activities. Each of the schools participated in various activities like drama, poems and songs. Testimonies on accessing education were collected and shared to enlighten and advocate for inclusive and quality education for all. Petitions highlighting some of the challenges faced by children and institutions in accessing quality and inclusive education were presented to the leaders in attendance. The “Back to school” activities were held in Borama at Sheikh Musa Primary school, with the Vice minister for Education as the guest of honour.

What happened in Action Week 2007?

Campaign activities varied from recitals of poems and drama in schools, and a student forum in the University of Hargeisa. The students’ messages vividly brought out the challenges faced by learners in Somaliland in accessing education as a right and the challenges of poverty, the lack of qualified teachers, the long distances to schools and discrimination of girls. At the grand finale 600 school children marched through the streets of Hargeisa to Freedom Square where they presented their petitions to the Ministry of Education.
