What happened in Action Week 2008? Ms. Venetiaan-Vaneburg, the first lady of the Republic of Suriname visited the Saronsschool where she talked with the children on children's right and what the right of education for all means and how it can be observed.
Organizing the activities for Action Week was a collaboration with the Education Network, the UN MDG Youth Ambassadors and the UN MDG Youth Officers. Schools were visited by members of the National Assembly, Ms. Jennifer Geerlings-Simons and Ms. Carmelita Fereira, the UN MDG Youth Ambassador Yldiz Beighle, member of the Youth Parliament Raynel Fraser, representatives of the Foundation for Roman Catholic Special Education, representative of Arya Dewaker Mr. Prem Ramoetar and representatives of the District Commissioner of the North to talk with the pupils in the classroom and discuss the educational situation in Suriname. The children were given the opportunity to express their views about the right for education and their desire for a Quality Education for All.
What happened in Action Week 2007?
Once again the Action Week was exciting and a resounding success. Those attending events included the Minister of Education and other education policy makers. All of whom joined hands with campaigners at a Big Human Chain event in Independent Square, in front of the Presidential Palace. The demand for Education Rights for All came across loud and clear.
