Equality and non-discrimination

For education to be able to contribute to the fulfilment of the principle of not leaving anyone behind in the Sustainable Development Agenda, educational institutions must be inclusive. Everyone should have access to, and be included in, education, regardless of disabilities, sexual orientation, gender identity, social, economic and/or ethnic background, among other factors. Adults without education opportunities should have effective responses from public education systems too.

GCE’s campaigns are also around the “leave no one behind” principle which is a strong obligation on behalf of all UN member states to create an inclusive agenda for the fulfilment of the SDGs.

The Global Campaign for Education (GCE) is a civil society movement that aims to end exclusion in education. Education is a basic human right, and our mission is to make sure that governments act now to deliver the right of everyone to a free, quality, public education.
