What happened in Action Week 2009?
Global Action Week took place in Santa Carina. On 22nd April, the Ministry of Education and the Teachers Union gave a speech to teachers.

The national event took place on 23rd April - a cultural celebration followed by speeches by the president of the Teachers Union asking for all governors to provide more money for education.

All events received television and radio coverage. The event was closed by renowned local singer Tito Paris, who lives in Portugal but came specifically to support Education for All.
What happened in Action Week 2008?
The World’s Biggest Lesson in Cape Verde made a big impact and included the participation of the American Embassy. The lesson took place in Cidade Velha and was attended by teachers and students.

During Action Week there was a strong media focus targeted at students and teachers on eliminating violence in schools. This was supported by the Portugal Teachers Union from FENPROF.
What happened in Action Week 2007?


These African islands are an example of success, having achieved gender parity in primary education, a national spend of 23% of the national budget on education, andclose to universal primary education.

An education coalition is currently being formed, and for the first time NGOs and teacher unions came together to celebrate Action Week. The new coalition has since been visited by ANCEFA and SNEN (Niger’s teachers’ union).
