What happened in Action Week 2008? There are as many as 8 million children in Nigeria who are missing out on an education - most have been excluded for reasons including being girls, disabled, labourers, their family poverty, or having parents affected by HIV/AIDS.
This was the central theme to the work and discussions of Action Week activities. The activities were coordinated by the national coalition -CSACEFA in collaboration with the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT). The World’s Biggest Lesson was attended by executives and members of the House of Representatives, Senate, top government officials as well as journalists.
The week ended with a stakeholders' round table on Quality Education to End Exclusion to create awareness and stimulate discussions with the public. CSACEFA called on the government to spend 25 per cent of recurrent budgets on teaching and learning materials. NUT sponsored a computer for the winner of an essay competition on the theme.

What happened in Action Week 2007?
Delaying Nigeria’s Action Week because of the general election did not have any weakening effect on the campaign. A colourful well attended Fun Walk organised by Nigeria’s Civil Society Action Coalition on Education for All (CSACEFA) started at the Federal Ministry of Education and ended at the National Centre for Women Development.
Amongst those walking were the Minister of Education Sayyadi Abba Ruma and Minister of State in the Ministry Adewunmi Abitoye and heads of different agencies with responsibility for education. The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education and the Minister also presented at a round table discussion on education as a human right, and were humbled by presentations from children and adult learners on their right to an education.
